Summary
The climate in a place is the average of its weather conditions.
Latitude, altitude, prevailing winds and distance from the sea all affect the climate of a place
Climate graphs show the temperature and precipitation levels for each month of the year in a specific place.
The climate of the UK is described as having mild, wet winters and warm, wet summers. It is called a temperate maritime climate
Anti-cyclones - These are areas of high pressure which result when the air sinks to give high pressure at the surface.
Depressions -These are areas of low pressure which form when air rises leaving low pressure on the ground.
Frontal depressions form where the warm air mass (from the equator) meets the cold air mass (from the poles)
The climate can cause drought, floods and tropical storms all of which influence both human activity and the environment.
